You can also use EduRoam at other participating universities - set it up here and your wireless connection will work when you're out visiting.

Never used Wireless before?

You may be asking, "What is wireless?"

WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) is simply the transmission of information without the need for a physical connection, such as a copper wire, between your computer and the Internet. Wireless networks utilise radio waves to communicate between computers and other network devices. The majority of new laptops have wireless technology integrated. Our wireless network will allow you to access not just the internet, but also your M drive, printing and soon, running programs that are installed on university PCs.

What's the advantage of bringing my laptop in to University rather than logging on to any of the PCs?

The benefits of wireless access include:

  • Flexibility
You can connect to wireless within the University at anytime; no looking for a computer.
  • Convenience
As you can log on almost anywhere, you can sit together in a group whilst having a coffee and browse the net, do a bit of shopping or check your Facebook account.
  • Adaptability
Not only can you use EduRoam within the University, you can also log on around the world - see here for more details.
  • Spontaneity
It's your laptop so you can use it anytime and anywhere providing you're within wireless coverage.

It's free so take advantage of it!
